Andrew Joncas

Born in Montreal Canada

After graduating with a BFA from Concordia University in Montreal, Andrew proceeded to explore abstraction in the tradition of “Les Automatistes” while simultaneously developing his own style of abstract urban landscape with the use of colors and forms that borrow heavily from the “Fauvist” and “Abstract Expressionist” Art movements.

Andrew’s desire to reconcile the duality of control versus freedom, has allowed his work to evolve drastically over time as evidenced by the stylistic characteristics displayed in each series of paintings. The juxtaposition of color and Andrew’s gestural brushstrokes create a structured chaos that is as daring as it is unique.
